Can cable trays be installed inside the fire dike surrounding major hazard sources? Cable trays can indeed be installed, but they must be fully enclosed metal cable ducts with covers; furthermore, these cable ducts need to be protected against corrosion, and the cables used should be flame-retardant. 1. Article 3.1.4 of the \"Code for Design of Fire Dikes in Tank Farm Areas\" (GB50351-2014): All types of pipelines and cables entering and leaving the tank farm shall cross above the top of the fire dike or protective wall, or pass beneath the ground. When it is necessary to pass through fire dikes or protective walls, sleeves should be installed and sealed tightly with non-combustible materials, or a fixed short pipe connected by flexible hoses at both ends should be used. 2. Article 5.7.2 of the \"Design Code for Automatic Instruments in Petrochemical Tank Farms\" (SH/T3184-2017): In areas of the tank farm or in locations where it is not convenient to lay cables underground, galvanized steel protective pipes or fully enclosed metal cable trays with covers and anti-corrosion measures should be used; protective pipes or cable trays made of non-metallic materials shall not be employed.
