These standards impose new compliance requirements on pipeline manufacturers, users, and project owners, so it’s worth paying attention to them in advance. I. Industrial piping sector (1) TSG 31—2025 \"Technical Regulations for the Safety of Industrial Piping\" 【Implementation date】 January 1, 2026 (already in effect) 【Nature】 Technical specifications for the safety of special equipment (mandatory enforcement) 【Responsible authority】 State Administration for Market Regulation. Why is it important? This is the core regulation in the field of special equipment safety; it integrates and replaces the previous versions TSG D0001—2009 and TSG D7005—2018. It covers the entire life cycle of industrial pipelines (design, manufacturing, installation, operation, inspection, maintenance), and its scope of application has been expanded to include power pipelines, refrigeration pipelines, non-metallic pipelines, high-pressure pipelines, airport fuel supply pipelines, as well as process pipelines at long-distance pipeline stations. ● Impact on businesses? —— Registration for use is a strict requirement; industrial pipelines that have not completed registration shall not be used after the end of the transition period. —— The medium classification follows GB/T 42594, with Grade GC1 requiring stricter standards; the chemical, power, petrochemical, and pharmaceutical industries are most affected. —— Inspections, documentation, and responsibilities are all shifted forward; the using entity is the primary responsible party, rather than the inspection agency bearing the ultimate responsibility.
2) GB/T 20801.1—2025 \"Code for pressure pipelines – Part 1: Industrial pipelines\" 【Implementation date】 May 1, 2026 【Nature】 **Recommended standard** 【Role】 The basic standard for the technical implementation of industrial pipelines. GB/T 20801.1 is not a regulatory requirement per se, but it plays a key role in ensuring compliance in practical engineering applications; it is widely used as a basis for design, review of drawings, as well as a technical reference standard for installation, inspection, and acceptance. TSG 31—2025 establishes safety thresholds for industrial pipelines, while GB/T 20801.1—2025 provides specific technical implementation guidelines; together, they form the core compliance framework for the industrial pipeline sector in 2026.
II. In the field of municipal/utilities water: GB/T 17219—2025 \"Hygienic and safety evaluation of water distribution equipment, protective materials, and water treatment materials for drinking water\" 【Implementation date】 March 1, 2026 【Nature】 **A recommended standard, but it has de facto regulatory effect** 【Responsible authorities】 **Health Commission / State Administration for Market Regulation** Why is it important? This is the first comprehensive revision of the 1998 standard in 27 years; it introduces for the first time a health assessment framework for water treatment materials. The evaluation criteria are divided into regular and extended categories (with additional indicators such as aluminum, barium, nickel, antimony, tin, phthalates, bisphenol A, and total organic carbon), and the limits for substances such as lead, cadmium, and formaldehyde have been set more strictly. ● Impact on businesses? —— Direct quotation from the bidding and acceptance procedures for municipal water supply and secondary water supply projects ; —— Non-compliant products will not pass the health assessment and project acceptance ; —— Higher requirements are placed on the control of raw materials and additives for plastic pipes such as PE, PPR, and PVC.
