According to Sinochem New Network, recently, Jilin Petrochemical’s project to revise the industry standard for \"Determination of the microstructure of butadiene rubber\" was approved by the **Standardization Technical Committee for Rubber and Rubber Products. It is reported that the microstructural ratio of butadiene rubber is a key indicator for assessing product quality, as it directly determines the product’s mechanical properties, elasticity, cold resistance, and processing characteristics. However, the current industry standards suffer from issues such as complicated sample preparation, high requirements for sample purity, and long testing cycles, making it difficult to meet the industry’s demands for more efficient and environmentally friendly testing technologies. To address this industry challenge, the company launched a dedicated research effort in the second half of 2025; through numerous feasibility tests and explorations of various conditions, it succeeded in establishing a new testing methodology. The new standard will incorporate the ATR infrared spectroscopy method, enabling precise quantitative analysis of the microstructure of butadiene rubber; it significantly reduces the stringent requirements for sample pretreatment, and improves compatibility and universality greatly. At the same time, the new standards will incorporate new rapid testing technologies, completely changing the traditional testing approach that relies on complex sample preparation. This technology offers advantages such as the need for no special sample preparation, fast detection speed, good data repeatability, and strong environmental adaptability, enabling a more environmentally friendly, safer, and more efficient detection process and providing technical support for quality control in the industry.
