The company has currently installed a small glycol dehydration unit. Now, looking at the different drawings, I’m wondering whether electric heat tracing is needed for the wastewater treatment line and the triglycerol recovery line. Operating temperature, around minus 10 degrees.
The purpose of heating is to prevent solidification, right? One needs to consider whether solidification will occur and whether heating can address this issue in order to decide whether heating is necessary
That’s how I understand it too. At the moment, there are designs from two companies, each with a different focus. The temperatures here in winter are generally below -10. But one is designed with electric heat tracing, while the other does not. That’s why I’m puzzled. I'm now hesitating about how to make a choice.
Design institutes are not invincible; they will create designs based on the requirements given. There are still some things that the owner needs to decide on. The solidification issue is not within the scope of what the design institute handles. If you request heating, they can design the system with heating; if you don’t need heating, they can design it without it. If there is no heat tracing, it will solidify at that point; without heat tracing, solidification doesn’t occur, so it’s unnecessary to have heat tracing. Even with heat tracing, solidification can’t be prevented. These issues are not within the scope of the design, and if they need to be resolved, additional costs will be required as someone will have to find a solution for you

Look, your water dew point is quite high. . . If it is lower than the ambient temperature, it is recommended to use electric heating. . . If it is higher than the ambient temperature. . . Just do the insulation work. . . Electrical heating is also a viable option, as it helps prevent freezing and blockages in the equipment’s pipelines due to fluctuations in parameters during normal operation. . .
