What is the impact of silicone oil in gasoline/diesel on the pressure gauge dial?
Our factory uses silicone oil; it’s a chemical plant
For the pressure gauge pointer, it serves a damping and shock-absorbing function. When choosing what to use, two factors need to be considered: one is the freezing point, and the other is the level of danger in case of leakage. At least fuels as light as gasoline are not suitable; the freezing point of diesel is likely not low enough.
Apart from silicone oil, I have never seen any other forms
Why change it? Isn’t silicone oil good enough? When switching to gasoline and diesel, firefighting becomes a problem.
Instrument oil is added to the gauges on site in order to provide a certain degree of damping for the gauge pointers, thereby reducing the shaking and shock of the pointers when pressure fluctuates. For regular applications, add silicone oil ; For strongly oxidizing media such as oxygen and chlorine, fluorinated oils or fully chlorinated paraffin oils should be used; at very low temperatures, antifreeze can also be employed.

I’ve only seen silicone oil and fluorine oil; I’ve never heard of oil mixed with gasoline or diesel.
