Tar residue contains about 50% coal tar, which needs to be distilled in order to enable its reuse. Can such continuous distillation not be calculated using conventional distillation methods? There is no need for reflux, and the boiling points of the two phases differ greatly. If I want to calculate the size of a distillation kettle, I have no idea where to start; I’m ashamed to admit it.
What is the feasibility of intermittent operation in industry? Can this distillation be carried out in a batch mode?

Pot distillation is usually vacuum distillation; it’s easy to learn by finding a book on the basic principles.
Intermittent distillation can definitely be used to separate different products. The remaining distillation residues are discharged through the bottom outlet, and coking is removed regularly.
