When calculating the wetted area under fire conditions, I am taking into account the safety valves on the tower, as well as related equipment and pipes – including those from the tower to the pump and then to the heat exchanger. The heat exchanger is also located below 7.6 meters. Should the wetted area of the heat exchanger be considered in this case? The key point is that the medium entering the tower flows through the pipe side; should this area be considered as being exposed to fire, or only the head section? Additionally, in this heat exchanger, only some of the tubes are below 7.6 meters, not all of them. I would appreciate advice from those with experience

Usually, only those heat exchangers and pipelines that are closely related to the tower and located very near it are taken into account, such as the reboiler and its associated pipelines. For horizontal heat exchangers, the 7.6m limitation is usually not a concern. In the case of a tube bank, what needs to be calculated is mainly the exposed area of the tube bank section.
