As the title suggests, besides PPR, can a No. 20 fluid pipe (carbon steel) be used?
It depends on where you use it. . . . What requirements? .
Have you seen galvanized steel pipes made of 20# steel used for factory water supply pipes?

But they are no longer used nowadays, as carbon steel pipes rust severely; just go to old residential areas to see for yourself – if the water isn’t used for a while and then the tap is turned on, the water will definitely be yellowish due to rust. That’s why the use of ordinary carbon steel pipes for transporting drinking water is strictly prohibited. It’s certainly possible to use tap water on the process pipes, but in process systems, tap water is hardly used directly as it can corrode equipment or cause scaling; instead, demineralized water is used.
It’s best not to use it; using 20-grade steel to transport tap water will result in rust accumulating in the water after some time
