Skirt protection layer: When there are flammable or explosive substances inside the tower or in the containers surrounding it, a fire could cause the skirt-type supports to lose their strength due to rising temperatures; therefore, a fire-resistant layer should be provided for the skirt. When the skirt base D ≤ 1500 mm, a fireproof layer is applied only on the outside ; When the skirt base D > 1500 mm, a 50 mm layer of asbestos cement is applied on both sides. When the operating temperature inside the tower is very high, the temperature difference between the tower and the skirt causes uneven thermal expansion, which can worsen the stress conditions on the welds connecting the skirt to the bottom head of the tower; in such cases, it is necessary to insulate the skirt.

SH/T3098-2011 contains provisions regarding the insulated type of bottomed heads.
Learn* knowledge. But our factory doesn’t have insulation; it depends on the needs.
