Blow it out first, then test run it – it’s safer that way!
First, verify the quality of the compressor’s installation. Most importantly, manually clean any residues at the welds inside the air intake filter chamber, as well as in the pipes and equipment leading from the filter chamber to the compressor itself. Clean the pipes between various stages as well. Once this is done, the compressor can be started, and this air can then be used to purge the pipes and equipment connected to the compressor. Before purging, the packing in equipment such as air-cooled towers and molecular sieves must be installed only after the purging is completed successfully. During purging, the pipes behind the compressor should be tapped gently on their walls with wooden stakes to remove any remaining residues such as slag. The quality of equipment installation before purging must be ensured, as purging is the final step. This plan is available from the equipment installation company. The key is to have proper supervision in place.
