The distillation system is of batch type, and the accompanying drawings are CAD illustrations based on the site conditions. I am encountering difficulties during operation; the pressure inside the tower is unstable, sometimes positive and sometimes negative. I’m not sure whether there is a problem with the design or with the operation procedures. I seek help – thank you!
The tower pressure is maintained stable using a thermal bypass or nitrogen padding.
The pressure at the top of the tower can be controlled via interlock with the cooling water inlet valve

Is there no temperature interlock control for extraction, reflux, and reboiling? How is the flow rate of the reflux controlled? There is a return distributor leading to the oil-water separator, and the separator lacks a liquid level control.
The oil-water separator is manually controlled, with a glass sight gauge at the bottom. The reflux ratio controller operates on a time-based proportionality principle, using time as a factor to regulate the reflux ratio. There is interlocking between the steam flow at the top of the tower and the steam heating at the bottom of the tower; no other interlockings are present.
