Our company has 3,000 cubic meter of 32% caustic soda storage tanks; glass flake coating is used for corrosion protection inside these tanks. After 6 months, the topcoat became corroded. I would like to know what the reason for this is. Thank you
I haven’t worked with glass flake anti-corrosion methods; it might be a problem with the information available on the material itself, or there could be an issue with the selection of that material. The caustic soda used in our company also has a concentration of 32%, and carbon steel is used for its handling

I think it’s because the resin scales aren’t properly preserved or protected
For any coating-based anti-corrosion solution, the key lies in the application process; the vast majority of problems arise from poor anti-corrosion performance due to issues related to the application method or inadequate pre-treatment.
How did the testing go? Try spark testing.

If the temperature is at room temperature, a carbon steel tank will suffice.

We have no experience with glass flake; our factory uses carbon steel to handle 42% and 20% caustic soda, and we have never encountered any problems.
