These days, simulation software is generally used to calculate the process parameters for towers. When I used Aspen to calculate those parameters related to packing, I hadn’t worked on any actual projects before, so I just followed the examples given in the tutorials. It turned out that the plate height, which is an important parameter, was provided directly in those examples. This made me worried – if I were to work on an actual project, who would need this parameter? :Lol, later I checked the process design manual, which said to follow the measurement data as much as possible, such as the filler performance charts. . . . There really isn’t any. Two empirical formulas have been listed; I’m a bit puzzled. Since the Aspen packing calculation module allows selection of the manufacturer and packing type, why isn’t it capable of intelligently recommending the appropriate height for the packing and other components? Based on the simulated physical properties and parameters, it should be possible to create a built-in database for filler properties so as to automatically generate results~ Am I overthinking this? I’m not sure how those experts who have worked on filler calculation projects determine this parameter; I would appreciate it if you could share your insights~
