The existing steam return pipeline network has a complex layout, with varying return water temperatures and pressures in different branches; the return water temperature in some areas is below 80 degrees, while in most branches it is around 120 degrees. Due to the unequal flow rates in these branches, water hammer often occurs in certain sections. I see water hammer arrestors available; can they be installed in the return water network to eliminate water hammer?

Is it something like a slow-closing check valve?
