How is heating in a single-pass heat exchanger defined? Are heat exchangers made of different materials the same? What temperature difference is required to define it as single-pass heating? If the fluid on one side stops flowing while fluid continues to flow on the other side, is this still considered single-pass heating?

Single-pass refers to the situation where the medium in the tube passage passes through the entire tube passage at once (the tube passage being the space within the tube through which the medium flows). Multi-pass means that the medium passes through only a portion of the tube at a time, and can move back and forth multiple times, thereby improving the heat exchange efficiency. The function of the partition (the partition inside the tube box) is to divide the flow, allowing the medium to travel back and forth within the tubes multiple times and thus enhancing heat exchange efficiency; it is an essential component of multi-pass heat exchangers.
