Are special qualifications required to dispose of abandoned chlorine gas cylinders, and what are those qualifications?
The qualifications and disposal procedures are unclear. If safe disposal is to be carried out, the bottle must first be emptied and thoroughly cleaned at the site where chlorine is produced or used. The bottle valve should be fully opened to expose it to air and verify that it is non-toxic; after that, the valve can be removed, at which point the bottle becomes a harmless metal object
Generally, the gas cylinder inspection agency can be entrusted to handle the scrapping process.
