In the current production facilities for ammonium carbonate, the tanks containing 15% ammonia solution (their tank walls) are located 8 meters away from the packaging building. First of all, should 15% ammonia solution be classified as Category B or Category C? Ammonia water itself is not flammable, but considering that the ammonia gas it releases is explosive, there have been many accidents involving explosions of ammonia water tanks in China. Therefore, is it necessary to install explosion-proof walls between the ammonia water tanks and the packaging buildings? Are there any explicit regulations, or do petrochemical regulations or other standards stipulate that ammonium carbonate packaging buildings cannot be located within the plant area? The first thing that surprised me greatly was the existence of companies that produce ammonium carbonate! ! ! Secondly: regarding the fire hazard classification of 15% ammonia solution, we have always classified it as Class V (non-flammable). Moreover, explosions in ammonia storage tanks generally occur during illegal welding operations; the possibility of an explosion during normal operation is low. From a regulatory perspective, there are no explicit requirements stating that an explosion-proof wall must be installed between the ammonia tanks and the packaging building. Of course, it is advisable to use automation and mechanization for the packaging of ammonium carbonate, in order to reduce the number of workers in the packaging facility.
Ammonium carbonate is only used as part of the exhaust gas treatment system for another project.
