Recently, the ammonia content in recycled hydrogen has exceeded the allowed levels. I’m wondering if there are any other solutions besides emission control If there are other ways, shouldn’t those options be considered? What about the work procedures? Please ask the senior brothers to answer

Our factory has encountered a similar problem; I don’t know what the target value for the hydrogen ammonia content in the circulating hydrogen is, and I’m also unaware whether it exceeds that limit or not. As far as I know, in our sulfur recovery unit, a set of amine solution is used for regenerating another set of amine solution, which in turn is supplied to a diesel hydrogenation unit to desulfurize the circulating hydrogen. The acidic gas pipeline (DN200) resulting from this regeneration process gets clogged due to crystallization within just a week or so. This problem has plagued us for nearly a year; later on, we adopted a method involving continuous partial discharge of the acidic gas at the top of the regeneration tower, along with continuous addition of water to replace the amine solution. This approach has worked well for over four years now – without it, we would be doomed. Last year we tried it once: by stopping the discharge of acidic water for about 4 days, pressure built up at the top of the amine liquid regeneration tower. In other words, the problem of high hydrogen and ammonia content in the circulating hydrogen at our plant has yet to be resolved after more than five years.
