There is a steam pipeline equipped with several rotary compensators; as shown in the image below, should a vent valve be installed on the rotating arms of the rotary compensators? Since there will be some rotation at that point, is it safe to use a valve? Also, when is high-point exhaust generally used? Should the exhaust pipe of an overhead pipeline be lowered? I hope experienced friends will come and answer.

An exhaust valve is needed mainly to release air during the pressure testing phase of installation; it can be removed or left in place after the construction is complete
A permanent exhaust valve is not necessary; after installation, a temporary opening can be created for a hydrostatic test, and it can be sealed later. In the case of steam pipes, a low-point gate valve plus a drain valve should be installed downstream, along the direction of flow of the pipe, just before the elevation rises due to compensation
What was said on the sixth floor is correct: high-point venting is used for pressure testing and isn’t needed in normal operations, while low-point drainage is essential; a stop valve and a steam trap are required
The drainage, water release, and air release systems for pipes and equipment vary depending on pressure; steam pipes at higher points do not require air release, but air release devices are needed during pressure testing
