For the intermittent production of fine chemical intermediates, the graphite condenser is either placed at an inclined angle or used in an upright position; the scale of such operations is relatively small, and no complex calculations are required. This is a coiled tube heat exchanger, which is very common. If one wants the gas to condense directly into a liquid state, in addition to considering the heat exchange area, it is also necessary to take into account the flow rate of the cooling source and the heating medium (such as ice water). If there are special requirements, consult the manufacturer for design. As for whether the condensed liquid will vaporize once it falls, it depends on the environment in which it lands, and it’s not something that can be explained in just a few words.
If there is a concern that heat exchange may not be sufficient, frozen brine can be used as the medium. I tried this during pilot tests a long time ago; methanol and dichloromethane can be condensed. In cases where there is a gas-liquid mixture, or when the evaporation rate is high and the steam flow velocity is too great, it’s hard to say whether the uncondensable gases will be carried away
