In the project, for example, the temperature increase and decrease rate for the distillation tower is required to be 12–25°C/h, while for the reaction vessel it should not exceed 50°C. There are no specific requirements regarding the temperature change rate for the mixing tank; generally, a temperature change of 20°C occurs over about 10 minutes. What’s confusing now is how exactly this temperature increase and decrease rate is determined Is it based on the equipment materials? Or physical property conditions? Or are they regulatory standards?
It’s not professional in this regard; personally, I would point out the following issues: 1. Due to the material used, too rapid heating or cooling will certainly cause damage to the material, leading to wear and tear on the equipment itself as well as its sealing components; Although I studied a major related to metals, I’ve almost forgotten what exactly the types of damage are. 2. Regarding process requirements, too rapid heating of certain media can lead to a sharp increase in pressure ; 3. Regarding process production requirements, other procedures may also need to be carried out during the temperature increase process; generally, a smooth transition is achieved. Meanwhile, increased inspections on site are conducted during slow temperature increases, which helps to identify any issues
Basically, regarding the heating rate of equipment, what matters is the final temperature. The heating rate is important because requirements such as those for water removal using molecular sieves or for fire-resistant mud/bricks in heaters exist.
