Hello everyone. We all know that boilers have continuous blowdown and periodic blowdown, along with corresponding collection tanks. Now there is a question: why do the collection tanks for continuous discharge have level gauges, while those for periodic discharge do not? What is the main purpose of a level gauge?
If it’s arranged in a continuous row, it’s not possible to tell whether it’s full just by looking; there should be a level gauge that can provide an indication from a distance. If it is scheduled for regular checks, just check it once; there’s no need for continuous monitoring, and a level gauge might not be necessary
Since the water in the continuous wastewater collection tank is not reused either, can I just open all the bottom valves to keep it water-free? ? ?
Sure. It’s like having no containers at all – then what’s the need for a level gauge?
I still feel there’s a problem; since it was designed, it must be useful. But I still don’t quite understand the deeper meaning. For example: if I open the bottom valve fully, then when the liquid level drops, does draining the liquid equate to releasing pressure from the steam drum? .
Often, multiple tanks are arranged in a row; it’s not just to save money, but also to have a level gauge for easy monitoring
Does your column produce flash vapor? If vapor is generated, a certain liquid level is required to maintain pressure, and therefore a level gauge is needed for monitoring
