Recently, many cities and numerous enterprises across the country have begun to make efforts in the hydrogen energy and fuel cell industries, creating an unprecedented level of activity. The development of the hydrogen energy industry in our country has been slow-paced. However, since 2018, businesses across the country and an increasing number of them have turned their attention to the hydrogen energy industry. According to preliminary estimates, in just the past six months alone, various regions including Beijing, Shandong Province, Foshan City, Ningbo City, Maoming City, Zhangjiakou City, Rugao City, and Lu’an City have successively introduced plans for the development of the hydrogen energy and fuel cell industries. Many organizations, such as Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Jinmei Group, and Huachang Chemical, have also begun to work on projects related to hydrogen energy utilization. For example, at the beginning of this year, Shandong Province established an industry alliance for hydrogen energy and fuel cells. The alliance was initiated by three provincial-owned enterprises—Shandong Guohui, Yankuang Group, and Shandong Heavy Industry—and consists of 68 member organizations from within and outside the province. Shandong Province will strive to build a \"China Hydrogen Valley\" and create a \"hydrogen energy society\". Shanghai Reshaping Energy Technology Company has signed an investment agreement with the People’s Government of Nanhai District, Foshan City, aiming to invest 2.16 billion yuan in the initial phase to develop a \"Hydrogen Energy Town\" in Danzao Town, Nanhai District. Maoming City recently held a discussion meeting on the development of the hydrogen energy industry, proposing to plan and build a hydrogen energy industry base. It is reported that the ongoing H2Tech project is being accelerated, with the hydrogen fuel cell project aiming to begin trial operations by the end of this year. On the corporate side, Shanxi Jinmei Group recently signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the France-China Energy Association to work together on exploring the development and utilization of hydrogen energy. “A key approach to addressing clean energy is hydrogen. ”This was stated by Ling Wen, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and general manager of **Energy Group, at the 11th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference meeting on the analysis of China’s population, resources, and environmental development trends held recently. It also prevents the general public from overcoming their fear of hydrogen, thus obstructing the formation of a consensus regarding a \"hydrogen society\" and the development of the hydrogen economy. To this end, he suggested **having the relevant ministries and departments study the inclusion of hydrogen energy into** the energy system, identifying the competent authorities to oversee its management, formulating specific plans for the development of hydrogen energy and fuel cells, promoting hydrogen energy as an important part of the energy strategy, establishing strategies for the development of the hydrogen energy industry along with implementation roadmaps, and creating scientific and sustainable policies to support and incentivize the growth of this industry. Yi Baolian, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and a researcher at the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, shared his insights on the development of hydrogen fuel cell technology. He believes that significant progress has been made in the core technologies of domestic hydrogen fuel cells, but it is still necessary to further reduce costs and enhance international competitiveness.
