I’m a beginner, just graduated. I plan to work at a chemical engineering design institute. I would like to ask Yi Xia what exactly is involved in process design there; I’m looking for more specific information as well as an understanding of how it connects to what was learned in undergraduate studies.
Apply what you’ve learned, master the methods and ways of thinking; it’s a good idea to gain experience at a design institute right after graduation.

I haven’t worked in a design institute, but based on my experience in other areas, it probably includes four aspects: conceptual design, calculations, regulations, and drafting. First, a draft plan is designed, and the parameters of equipment, pipes, etc. are calculated. Then, configuration design and calculation verification are carried out in accordance with regulatory standards, after which the design results are presented in a standardized format, including drawing preparation

The work involved in design institutes includes referring to chemical process design manuals, and most of the content in those manuals is something that chemical design institutes handle. If you enter as an undergraduate, you generally start by working on piping.
