Can a packing support be used as a liquid redistributor?

Let’s discuss a question: if a packing tower is not to be equipped with a liquid redistributor, can the packing supports shown in the image below be used as a liquid redistributor? Has anyone used them before? How effective is it? If the performance differs significantly from that of the liquid redistributor, what is the reason?

Sure. We used to have a desulfurization tower that used this hump-shaped support as a distributor; the tower was 43 meters tall, I think it had four floors, but I’m not sure exactly
If the distribution is good and there is no skewing, then there’s no problem
As long as the process conditions can be met, that’s certainly possible. Packing supports inherently serve to redistribute air or liquid flow; there may not be much difference in air flow distribution, while liquid flow requires a liquid inlet distributor.
