As the title suggests, can flanged and wafer-type butterfly valves be connected directly to the equipment piping?
Yes, I’ve seen them connected directly at the factory
But for a project I’m working on that involves a heat exchanger with circulation water pipes of 28\", the butterfly valve is connected directly to the pipe end; however, during the model review by management, it’s required that there be an interface rather than a direct connection

I don’t think the length of the bolt is a problem; it can be extended in one direction if it won’t fit in another. It is likely that the bolts are tightened to ensure a secure seal at the clamped surfaces; in some cases, excessive stress on certain bolts may cause deformation of the flanges on the equipment.
It depends; if a centrifugal fan is used, it is not recommended to connect the inlet and outlet directly – generally, bellows are needed for vibration damping at these connections.
This post was last edited by sunshy_yu on 2019-5-24 at 16:58. It is generally not recommended to use butterfly valves as root valves for equipment, mainly because butterfly valves tend not to close properly. If it must be used, flanged types are acceptable; wafer types are not recommended.
If the device connections are flanged, can’t they all be connected directly? Of course, except in cases where additional soft connections are needed.
