It was found that the pipes in thermal power plants are insulated, regardless of whether the fluid flowing through them is hot or at room temperature. Some of the pipes at room temperature even have electric heating installed; it’s a bit hard to understand – is it really necessary to provide such extensive insulation?
I guess it’s for heat protection and insulation; protection against high temperatures is necessary when the temperature exceeds 60 degrees.
Pipes for normal-temperature water have also been made; isn’t that called heat resistance?
Personal opinion: To prevent extreme operating conditions, such as sudden shutdowns in winter, the normal temperature water in the pipes is prone to freezing; insulation can help alleviate this issue, and heating can resolve the problem should freezing occur again. The downside is that the investment costs are high
It seems that some chemical plants don’t even insulate their pipes at normal temperatures

According to the DL/T 5072-2007 Code for Design of Insulation Paints for Pipelines in Thermal Power Plants, pipelines and equipment with an external surface temperature above 50°C that require heat loss reduction need to be protected against freezing, condensation, or delayed medium condensation. In industrial processes, where the external surface temperature is above 60°C and no other measures can be taken to prevent burns, insulation is necessary
