For atmospheric-pressure tanks, sealed sampling primarily reduces the workload associated with manual sampling inside the tank. It differs from the environmental protection approach that requires the displacement of wastewater at other sampling points.
There are two main sampling methods for atmospheric pressure storage tanks: 1) pump circulation (magnetic pumps or diaphragm pumps are recommended), 2) backflow by gravity (recommended). For heterogeneous atmospheric pressure storage tanks, it is necessary to set up sampling points at the top, middle, and bottom for separate sampling; this requirement is not applicable to homogeneous storage tanks. Currently, there are no specific standards for sealed samplers, but there are recommended sampling methods for various media, such as ethylene, propylene, butadiene, liquid ammonia, and so on. However, these standards can only be used as a reference and cannot be applied in practice; otherwise, the samplers produced will not function properly.
