This creates a significant risk of condensation in pipelines with multiple branches or those that have only one heating line. I wonder if anyone here has seen such a design before, and whether it should be changed to a standard configuration, as shown in the figure below.
If it is used only for local heating, and closing the valves in that area during replacement does not affect other systems, then it should be a rational design. If it is in front of the steam system’s drain valve on the production line, a valve must definitely be installed for maintenance purposes during replacement; otherwise, shutting down operations is not allowed. Local heating is also an option, for reference.
No matter where it’s used, I still think it’s necessary to consider maintenance issues in order to ensure effective isolation
Now, the contractors only consider the performance aspects, ignoring future maintenance needs; in addition to considering water strainers and insulation, they also need to take into account the amount of condensation and whether the flow rate is sufficient. If it’s in the north, it might freeze even during the later stages of insulation
The drain valve can be removed, but it is still recommended to keep the valves at the front and back, as this facilitates maintenance
Well, we might really need to make changes in this case. Some of the pipelines on the utility tunnel carry materials from upstream devices to downstream devices; these materials require high levels of heat tracing, which makes it easy for the pipes to get clogged.

Whenever possible, install valves before and after the steam trap; add a drain line in front of the steam trap, and use it to remove condensate during pipe heating
