Friends from Sichuan, let’s discuss the overflow lines in the sulfuric acid storage tank process, the venting process, and the methods for handling the overflow liquid and vented gas.
Under normal circumstances, the vent pipe (pressure valve outlet) should be located at the highest point of the tank and at the same level as the inner surface of the tank roof; if the storage tank is installed indoors, the vent should also be led outside. For the outlet that discharges directly into the atmosphere, an 180°C elbow and wire mesh should also be installed. Regarding the overflow port, a backflow device should be installed so that the fluid can flow back into the original container in case of overflow. It is important to note that the diameter of the backflow pipe should be no smaller than that of the feed pipe.
Regarding whether the vent pipe of the sulfuric acid storage tank can be used for direct venting, what should be done if the gas contains acid mist or SO3 gas? For the overflow pipeline, it normally discharges gas as well; can the gas be discharged directly? Thank you for your reply.
