Molecular sieves are used for the removal of organic sulfur from LPG; they are widely employed abroad. It is not known which refining companies in China use them or how well they work. There are several limitations: 1. Hydrogen sulfide in LPG should still be removed before using molecular sieves, meaning that a unit for removing hydrogen sulfide is required prior to the molecular sieve process. 2. There are concentration limits – what is the maximum allowable concentration of organic sulfur in the feed LPG, and what is the maximum allowable total sulfur content in the resulting LPG? 3. The environmental advantage of using molecular sieves for removing organic sulfur from LPG lies in the significant reduction in emissions, thereby easing environmental pressures. It is a pity that domestic molecular sieves and related processing technologies do not possess independent intellectual property rights
