The device is used to treat acidic water; the temperature at the bottom of the acidic water tower is around 160 degrees, while it’s around 40 degrees at the top. If the acidic water entering the tower contains a high amount of oil, what changes will occur in the temperatures? Are gasoline and diesel more likely to vaporize when heated than water? Please share your thoughts; extra points for that
The gasoline components should be able to go partially to the tower top
This needs to be determined based on the actual composition of the oil. The boiling range of gasoline ranges from 30–40 degrees to 200 degrees; some of the lighter components can evaporate together with water to the top of the tower, but the amount of heavier components is less ; The initial boiling point of diesel is generally above 150 degrees, so it will not evaporate with water vapor to the top of the tower. However, there is always some light-component oil present in the condensate water at the top of the fractionation tower.
The acidic water entering the tower contains a high amount of oil; if the oil consists of many components with low boiling points (lower than that of water), the temperature at the bottom of the tower will decrease to some extent. However, the temperature at the top of the tower will rise, as the amount of light components at the bottom of the tower increases. The rise in the top temperature is due to an increase in the gas phase within the tower, which results in a decrease in the pressure drop across the tower trays
