During routine equipment maintenance, after the equipment is lifted and taken to the cleaning area, acid mist often forms when it’s opened. Out of environmental considerations, I’d like to build a retractable tent similar to those used at barbecue stalls. As shown in the figure below: when not in use, it folds up and does not take up space. During maintenance, after the equipment is lifted, this is pulled out and placed over the equipment; several ventilation openings are provided at the top for air exchange, and transparent PVC curtains are used around it. This way, it won’t be affected by wind and rain. :Lol, I don’t know if any other users have done this; is it feasible? ?
There are currently **no very strict standards** for unorganized emissions; and even if there were national standards, it’s likely that such emissions would not meet them. We encounter the same problem in our cleaning areas as well – it’s really troublesome. This is suitable for factories with residential areas.
It can only improve the working conditions on rainy days; it is a temporary solution rather than a permanent one. It does not address the root causes of acid mist and VOC emissions, unless negative pressure is created inside the shelter, the exhaust vents are connected to air ducts, and those ducts are linked to facilities for washing away acid mist.
The shed is equipped with negative-pressure exhaust vents, and the air ducts lead to our caustic washing tower for treatment. I’m just struggling with the suitability of this type of shed in a chemical plant: L.
This idea was discussed with the environmental protection and safety supervision departments; it was said to be an environmental improvement measure that can be implemented through a simple process. But it didn’t mention the use of such sheds; they seem quite practical, but they look pretty cheap. Using something like that in a chemical plant would be quite unusual.
With such a large open area, the wind speed needs to be at least 5 m/s to suppress acid mist – what size fan does one need to design? Attitude matters more than results! What we are doing here is creating a mobile central suction hood to collect the waste air centrally before transporting it to the cleaning site.
According to SH3004, with an air exchange rate of 8 times per hour, the fan may need a capacity of 2000 Nm3/h, which is not particularly high.
You mentioned all the conditions at once. It is feasible if the above measures are taken. Temporary measures can be used during maintenance.
An open-air area can be used to shield from rain and the sun. Workers inside the building or shed will be very reluctant to bring this in; ventilation has nothing to do with the shed – just add a few suction hoses
