In the image above, 4.74 refers to methanol as the raw material for contract manufacturing, while 4.98 refers to DMC. Our company uses two distillation towers; Tower 1 is primarily used for light component removal, with the azeotrope of methanol and DMC being extracted from its top, while the bottom of Tower 1 contains colored DMC with a purity of over 99.7%. At the top of Tower 2, the DMC product is obtained, while the bottom contains colored reconstituted components. A problem has now arisen: after a period of distillation in Column 2, the heat exchange efficiency of the reboiler decreases significantly, and a viscous substance similar to asphalt forms at the bottom of the column. The processing capacity was reduced from 4 tons per hour to 1 ton, and decomposition occurred. There is suspicion of coking on the surface of the reboiler at the bottom of Tower 2, which is affecting heat exchange efficiency. I need a solution.
Analyze the causes of coking; if it is caused by high temperatures, then use vacuum distillation to reduce the temperature in the reactor.
