Personal background: I graduated from a junior college in 2011, majoring in instrumentation. Upon arriving at the methanol plant, the process operations began. Later, I self-studied and obtained a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering and Technology. By obtaining the certification as a registered safety engineer, the company has performed excellently year after year, with its QC initiatives winning awards for 5 consecutive years. Currently a team leader with a technician title. But I feel there are still many areas where I need improvement, and I’m not sure how to move forward in the future. I’d like to find a mentor who can help me create a plan and offer guidance for my life.

Find like-minded people at the factory you work at; it’s best to find someone with high technical skills to serve as a mentor

Your qualifications and experience are already sufficient. What needs to be done next is figuring out how to move on to a management position. Obtaining various certificates is just a stepping stone; what’s truly important is to continuously expand one’s skills in other positions, as well as in the production roles across the entire factory or company. Once there is an opportunity to demonstrate it, it may be recognized by superiors, and that is what should be done above all. Just as the head of the control room, the head of the production department, and the company manager in charge of production all need to possess certain skills, these are the things you need to learn*. Wish you success on your path to a leadership position; keep working hard :)

Agreed, the view from above! Shift from technical talent to management talent!

Thank you. After reading the book “Deliberate Practice*, I suddenly felt a strong motivation. I’m looking for a coach, that is, a master. The chemical industry still has great prospects for development; private companies are willing to pay hundreds of thousands or even millions to recruit talent. I also want to make myself valuable. I’m thinking about pursuing another graduate degree while working, or getting a certification as a registered chemical engineer – I wonder if that would be too much of a waste of time

Thank you. Actually, I don’t know how to find such a master either; I just want to find someone whose earnings are several times higher than mine, but they might not be interested in me:P

Thank you. Do you mean broadening one’s perspective and focusing on the issues that leaders should pay attention to?

What to read and what certificates to obtain is another topic. I can only wish you success in achieving your goals. It needs to be achieved without affecting the main business. Remember, don’t become a machine that just gets certificates :)
