Oils are flammable substances that can catch fire spontaneously when in contact with compressed oxygen at a pressure greater than 3 MPa. If grease is stuck on the valve of the oxygen cylinder, during the filling and use of the cylinder, the high-speed flow of oxygen passing through the valve can cause it to catch fire, and may even lead to the explosion of the oxygen cylinder. Therefore, oxygen cylinders must not come into contact with grease. The grease on the bottle valves is the result of neglecting safety and serious violations of safety procedures. Contaminated during filling and use by the operator’s oily hands, gloves, work clothes, and tools ; It is also possible that strict degreasing was not performed during the inspection or replacement of the bottle valve. The grease in the bottle may be from a gas cylinder that once contained greasy gases. During the regular inspection of gas cylinders, to determine whether there is grease on the inner wall of the cylinder, the following method can be used: 1) Pour the water used to rinse the cylinder into a cup; after letting it sit for a while, place a piece of cigarette paper on the surface of the water, wait for a short period, and then remove it to dry it. If there are oily stains on the paper, it indicates that the bottle contains grease ; 2) Pour the water used to rinse the gas cylinder into a cup, and use a small spoon to add a little pure camphor powder to the surface of the water in the cup. If camphor powder rotates vigorously on the water surface, it indicates that the bottle contains oil. This is because camphor powder is insoluble in water, but soluble in fats. When it dissolves, heat of dissolution is generated, causing local vaporization of water and resulting in the rotation of the camphor powder. When oil removal is required, use a clean degreasing agent for the purpose.
