I wonder why, in addition to the motor needing to be explosion-proof, the impeller of a centrifugal fan also has to be explosion-proof?
I’ve never heard of impeller explosion protection; motor explosion protection is meant to prevent electric sparks, but is impeller explosion protection intended to prevent friction?

The impeller should not require separate explosion-proof certification. However, even if the motor is explosion-proof, the entire centrifuge still needs to be explosion-proof.
In simple terms, motor explosion protection is aimed at the environment in which the centrifugal fan is located, while impeller explosion protection is aimed at the gas conveyed by the centrifugal fan. If the fan is used to convey explosive gases, an explosion-proof centrifugal fan must be employed.
