The company’s loading platform is located in the open air, as the company’s materials must not be exposed to rain during loading and unloading. Next to the loading platform is a hazardous waste storage area; it would be possible to extend a steel structure roof from that storage area to cover the loading platform and protect it from rain. I searched for a lot of information on petrochemical regulations, but none of it provided detailed information on whether construction is allowed.
As long as there are no issues with the building’s structure, it should be fine; there are probably no specific requirements regarding hazardous waste.
What exactly is the material you’re referring to, the one that cannot be exposed to rain? Is it a hazardous chemical? I remember that when our company was building the hazardous waste storage facility, it maintained a considerable distance from the surrounding buildings. The safety distance between the material loading/unloading platform and the hazardous waste warehouse should have been determined through proper design analysis. If such analysis has been conducted, then there should be no issue with extending the steel structure roof from the hazardous waste warehouse
