When driving a vehicle into an explosion-proof area to unload goods, does the vehicle need to be explosion-proof, or what safety measures are required? We see tank trucks used to transport hazardous materials; what explosion-proof measures or other safety measures are required for such vehicles?
There have been instances of tank trucks directly unloading dimethyl carbonate in the explosion-proof area of the workshop. It clearly does not comply with building codes and petrochemical regulations. First, check whether the vehicle is equipped with a flame arrester before entering the factory. Secondly, the connection of the unloading crane hose or flexible pipe requires two people to operate; it is essential to ensure static electricity grounding as well as the use of wheel chocks on the tank truck. A DN15 or 25 nitrogen line equipped with a check valve is installed after the first valve connecting the unloading hopper pipe to the main pipeline, for purging purposes. Avoid bag-shaped discharge pipelines. After unloading is complete, close the valve and purge once more. Before unloading from the tank truck, it is not advisable to open the manhole for pressure relief; instead, pressure should be relieved through the top relief port. If there is no balance pipe, the valve should be opened slightly during pressure relief to avoid static electricity. The driver should not participate in unloading.
Some personal opinions: 1. The vehicle doesn’t need to be an explosion-proof one. 2. The vehicle body must have a ground wire. 3. Install a fire cap on the smoke exhaust pipe. 4. Turn off the engine when you reach the destination, shut off the power, remove the key, and get out of the vehicle.
It shouldn’t be allowed, for ordinary cars.
The exhaust pipes of vehicles should be equipped with spark arrestors; generally, when entering a chemical plant area, the security guards will require their use.
