Is there a standard for the diameter of the inner coil in the equipment? I notice that the diameter of the tubes in some coil heat exchangers is DN25, while in some other devices it’s DN80. I would like to ask those who are experienced in this field if they know anything about this Has anyone designed a coiled tube heat exchanger before? It seems there isn’t much information on this. Once the flow rate is determined, the cross-section of the heat exchange tube is determined. Determine the pipe specifications based on structural dimensions and machinability.
Thank you for your reply. What are the common specifications for coil diameters? I’m not sure where to start. The heat exchange area is approximately 200 m2, and oil is used as the fluid; the flow rate of this oil is 150 m3/h. I’m considering designing three sets of coils, with each set having a heat exchange area of 80 m2 and a flow rate of 50 m3/h. At a flow velocity of 2 m/s, the diameter of the tubes would be around 100 mm. Is this a large enough diameter, or could the flow velocity be increased further?
