As the title suggests, I would like to know about the two processes for hydroprocessing pyrolysis gasoline: pre-depentanization and post-depentanization. In other words, it involves hydroprocessing the core product alone or hydroprocessing the entire fraction. What are the differences between these two processes? Under what circumstances is pre-depentanization used, and under what circumstances is post-depentanization used?
The pre-depentanized product is hydrogen-free C5 that can be sold directly to downstream users, while the post-depentanized product is hydrogenated C5 that can be used as fuel in ethylene cracking furnaces
