The temperature difference in the circulating water can only reach about 6°C, which is a significant difference from the designed value of 10°C. I would like to ask the forum owners: are you all currently using PVC corrugated sheet packing in your recirculating water systems? What form is it in, and how is its performance? I heard there are new types of replacement fillers. What are they in the form of, and what is their performance?
The last edit to this post was made by Zhongyuanren on 2021-3-1 at 10:27. You are referring to gaskets used in circulating water cooling heat exchangers; we use graphite wave-shaped gaskets or wound gaskets. The effect is quite good.
It refers to the packing inside the cooling tower, which is mainly regular corrugated plate packing
A small temperature difference doesn’t necessarily mean there’s a problem with the packing. I’ve been working on circulating water treatment for many years; generally, if the temperature difference in the circulating water is low, it indicates that too much scale has formed inside, and some of the corrugated packing needs to be replaced. The original design certainly didn’t assume such a small temperature difference. Take an opportunity during maintenance to have an electrician turn off the power to the circulating water fan, and then you’ll be able to see the condition of the packing
Are there fillers that are not prone to clogging? Dust is abundant in the north, which can easily cause blockages in the packing, forcing its replacement.
Take a look and see if there’s any kind of honeycomb-shaped filler; it might work a little better
