Gas station gasoline storage tanks have some peculiarities when compared to Class A storage tanks of similar capacity used in chemical plants. 1. The gasoline storage tank is not equipped with a nitrogen seal. 2. Gas storage tanks are equipped with flame-arresting breather valves; during storage and transportation, if the internal pressure becomes too high, air is released outward directly (why isn’t an explosion a concern? ) ; If the internal pressure is too low, air is drawn from the atmosphere into the tank (why is there no risk of explosion? ) Such a setup is absolutely not allowed for Class A storage tanks in chemical plants. It’s confusing – why can the gasoline storage tanks at gas stations be designed in that way according to the regulations? It doesn’t make sense; are those regulations just decided arbitrarily?
Oh, why aren’t similar facilities installed in the fuel tanks of internal combustion engines as well? Especially those like large buses,,,? It must be related to the physicochemical properties of the medium, right?
Firstly, most of the storage tanks at gas stations are underground tanks, and their values change very little as the environment stabilizes. Therefore, the volume changes very little as it stabilizes. Of course, it is possible to use nitrogen gas, but the cost is extremely high. If there is nitrogen in factory equipment, many of them are equipped with nitrogen sealing. Second, the exhaust settings are required to be at a specified height, which facilitates the dispersion of oil and gas. With a large volume of oil being pumped in and out, such safety hazards can arise. Generally, gas stations sell only small quantities of oil, and sales are often intermittent; the situation you described is relatively rare, but it isn’t impossible given various contributing factors.
