As shown in the diagram, the piping arrangement at the outlet of the nitrogen equipment is valve ----- 8-shaped blind plate ----- check valve (C.S.O) ----- valve. The design basis for this arrangement can be found in HG20570. There are two issues: 1. Can the last valve be removed? The valve at the front end together with the 8-shaped blind plate should be sufficient to ensure sealing, and since there is also a check valve, the medium will not flow back. 2. Check whether the C.S.O. valve is normally open; if so, nitrogen would leak through this valve during operation. It shouldn’t be normally open, then when does it open?
Isn’t the 8-character blind flange in the open position? How can it be sealed? By the way, I would like to ask what C.S.O stands for; I only know what T.S.O means

So what is the function of this check valve? When does it open? Is it to determine whether valve 1 is leaking, or is it to remove the liquid from within the pipes? In the first image, the check valve is facing upward, so it seems it’s not used for draining liquid
Is this situation involving intermittent nitrogen use? Isn’t there an 8-shaped blind flange when using nitrogen continuously?
