May I ask, what is the engineering significance of adiabatic temperature rise? Is it related to heat transfer calculations?
This is primarily used in the assessment of process hazards. It involves determining the maximum temperature rise that can occur within a system due to reaction heat, under the condition that there is no heat exchange between the system and its surroundings. This helps to determine whether any unsafe conditions might arise under such circumstances.

In our reactor for removing oxygen from hydrogen, the oxygen concentration in the hydrogen feedstock is monitored by detecting the temperature inside the reactor through the adiabatic temperature rise. There are quite a few practical applications.
