The explosion protection rating applies only to electrical equipment; does your flame arrester contain any electrical components? I guess you can answer it yourself
Flame arresters need to be classified according to their explosion protection ratings. In accordance with the ISO16852 standard, flame arresters are divided into 7 grades: IIA1, IIA, IIB1, IIB2, IIB3, IIB, and IIC. Conventional flame arresters are available only in the IIA, IIB3, and IIC grades, while higher-grade flame arresters can be used in applications that require lower-grade ones as well. The representative gas for IIA is methane, the representative gas for IIB3 is ethylene, and the representative gas for IIC is hydrogen. When selecting, it is necessary to choose the flame arrester according to the gas group. For example, if the medium is hydrogen, which falls under category IIC, then using a flame arrester of type IIA will not work; this is because a flame arrester of type IIA is unable to prevent the combustion of media in category IIC.
