Dear teachers, the original flow meter was a DN50 vortex flow meter, with the pipeline having a diameter of DN80. The normal flow rate was 8 m3/h, with a maximum of no more than 10 m3/h. However, due to the properties of the material being handled, the flow rate fluctuated with the use of the vortex flow meter. Currently, there is an electromagnetic flow meter with a DN25 diameter available. The pressure at the pump outlet is around 0.6 Mpa, and the wastewater is to be pumped to the top of a 27-meter-high wastewater tower for feeding. Will the DN25 flow meter be able to meet the requirement of 8 m3/h?
The flow rate is a bit too high, and the reduction from DN80 to DN25 is excessive; I’ll purchase another flow meter based on DN50 instead.
You can give it a try first; I think there shouldn’t be any problems
If the wastewater has low viscosity, there’s no problem; the originally designed pipe diameter and sizes were chosen to be larger
8 m3/h – using a DN80 pipe for such a small volume of water, and with a requirement of only 27 meters in height, it’s a bit of a waste. If the pump is configured for a ratio of 80, the actual flow rate will be several times higher than this value. When the diameter is reduced to DN25 and the flow velocity reaches 10 m/s, it becomes difficult to measure the flow rate accurately; with a rotameter, the needle will rise so high that it can’t drop back down again. Without considering flow accuracy, electromagnetic might be better; the original pipe seems to have a somewhat large diameter
