Is the base of the pump fixed directly to the concrete floor, or is it fixed to a channel steel frame first, with the channel steel frame then being secured to the concrete floor using expansion bolts?
For small pumps, expansion bolts can be used to fix them directly into the concrete floor, while large pumps generally require embedded components that are mounted on channel steel and welded to those components.

The base of the pump is not fixed directly to the concrete floor, nor is it mounted on a channel steel frame and then the bottom of that frame secured to the concrete floor using expansion bolts. The pump base is fixed to the embedded bolts of the pump’s concrete foundation, and these embedded bolts are integrally connected to the rebar of the pump foundation through welding. In very rare cases, such as when replacing a new small pump that does not fit the base of the original pump, design calculations show that it is possible to use I-beam frames to expand the base and connect it to the new pump; however, the expanded I-beam frame base must be connected to the pre-installed bolts of the original base.
