Why is there a reflux bend at the top reflux point of the distillation column?

Dear experts, I would like to ask why there is a reflux bend at the top of the reflux line in a distillation column, and what is its function? It is sometimes present in the tower bottom as well.
The function of the reflux bend at the top of the distillation tower is to change the flow direction of the material, allowing the liquid to be evenly distributed and returned into the tower from its top, thereby enhancing the efficiency of material interaction within the tower and improving the separation results. The bottom of the tower also has a return bend, which serves a similar purpose by ensuring uniform heating of the material. .
It’s probably the effect of the liquid seal, preventing gas from leaking back:)
Ah, seeing this reminds me of those days over a decade ago when I was running up and down the first and fourth floors, moving through toxic fumes; the conditions in that organic solvent distillation area were truly indescribable.
A liquid seal is needed, otherwise the gas will take a short circuit.
