I have been working at a plant that utilizes the Lurgi process package for methanol synthesis. I’m reaching out to ask if there are any experts in the group who have experience working at methanol plants using the DAVY process. Could they provide a general description of the process, along with a flow diagram? Additionally, it would be great if they could share some key operating points as well Let me broaden my horizons.
The DAVY process uses natural gas as the raw material; it first undergoes desulfurization and reforming reactions to produce syngas (a mixture of carbon monoxide and hydrogen), which is then converted into methanol in a methanol synthesis tower. The key operational aspects include controlling the ratio of syngas, temperature, pressure, and the activity of the catalyst.
